Stillworlds turns your Mac into a quiet window onto small, living pixel-art worlds, each with its own music and real recorded sounds, in a day and a night version. Watch them in the window, fill the screen in Ambient Mode, or set Stillworlds as your screen saver.

How do I set Stillworlds as my screen saver?

Click Set as screen saver at the bottom of the Stillworlds window. macOS only lets you choose a screen saver in System Settings, so Stillworlds opens it for you and shows the steps: Wallpaper › Screen Saver… › Custom › Other › Stillworlds. The app confirms when it's set.

What's free, and what's in the Launch Collection?

Lantern Rain, Greenhouse and City After Hours are free. The Launch Collection is a one-time purchase that unlocks seven more worlds in the app, Ambient Mode and the screen saver: Campfire Hollow, Amayadori Records, Lantern Moon, Above the Clouds, Reading Room, The Depths and Oasis Camp. There's no subscription.

I bought the Launch Collection. How do I get it on another Mac?

Sign in to the App Store with the same Apple Account, open Stillworlds and choose Settings › About › Restore Purchase (it's also in the purchase sheet).

How do day and night work?

Each world has a day and a night version. By default they follow your Mac's clock (day from 7 am to 7 pm). In Settings or the menu bar you can choose Always day or Always night.

Can I fall asleep to it?

Yes. In Ambient Mode, choose a sleep timer (15, 30 or 60 minutes) from the menu bar or Settings. The sound fades, then the picture, and your Mac sleeps as it normally would.

How do I change the sound?

Use the music and ambience sliders at the bottom of the window or in the menu bar. Each world remembers its own mix. Screen saver sound is off by default; turn it on in Settings › Sound.

What do I need?

A Mac with macOS 14 or later. Stillworlds works entirely offline.
